Online gambling in Argentina: how it is regulated

An educational guide to the Argentine jurisdictional framework, the difference between operator and aggregator, and what to check before registering on a platform.

Regulation by jurisdiction

Online gambling in Argentina is regulated at jurisdiction level. Authorising, regulating and supervising the activity is the responsibility of each province and of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, rather than a single national body issuing a licence valid across the entire territory.

In practice, each jurisdiction sets its own requirements: which operators may offer services, under what technical and commercial conditions, with what responsible gambling obligations, and through which authorised sites. A platform authorised in one jurisdiction is not automatically authorised in another.

Operator and aggregator: two different roles

Understanding this difference avoids confusion and makes it clear who to contact in each situation.

An operator is the authorised company that provides the gambling service: it runs the platform, opens user accounts, accepts bets, processes deposits and withdrawals, sets odds, settles results and provides customer support. It is the entity subject to the jurisdiction's authorisation.

An aggregator or affiliate publisher, such as Rasca y Gana Casino, publishes information and comparisons about operators and links to their sites. It does not accept bets, process payments, hold funds, open gambling accounts or take part in the relationship between user and operator. Its business model is based on affiliate links.

If your question concerns an account, a payment or a bet, it belongs with the operator. If it concerns content published on this site, write to us through our contact page.

What to check before registering

  1. Applicable authorisation. Confirm the operator holds the relevant authorisation in your jurisdiction and that the site is the one authorised for it.
  2. Identity of the responsible entity. An authorised operator states which company is responsible and how to contact it.
  3. Terms and conditions. Review the rules on promotions, payments, account closure and dispute resolution.
  4. Responsible gambling tools. Check which limits you can set and how self-exclusion works.
  5. Payment methods and timings. Find out which methods are available, how long withdrawals take and what fees may apply.
  6. Data protection. Read the operator's privacy policy before handing over personal data.

Minimum age and verification

The activity is restricted to people aged 18 and over. Authorised operators apply age and identity checks and may request documentation before enabling activity or approving withdrawals. Providing someone else's details or attempting to bypass those checks breaches the operator's conditions.

How to recognise an authorised operator

  • It publishes clear information about the authorisation it holds and the jurisdiction it covers.
  • It identifies the responsible entity and offers verifiable contact channels.
  • It provides complete terms and conditions, accessible before registration.
  • It offers responsible gambling tools and displays minimum-age messaging.
  • It applies identity verification processes.

When in doubt, the safest route is to consult the information published by your jurisdiction's authority.

Responsible gambling

Gambling is entertainment with financial risk, not a way to generate income. Set limits before you start, keep track of the time and money you spend, and never chase losses. If gambling has stopped feeling like a choice, seek professional support.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a national online gambling licence in Argentina?

Online gambling in Argentina is regulated by jurisdiction. Each province and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires has its own framework and its own authority, so there is no single national licence that authorises an operator across the whole country.

What is the minimum age?

Gambling is restricted to people aged 18 and over. Authorised operators apply age and identity verification before allowing any activity.

How do I recognise an authorised operator?

Review the authorisation information the operator publishes, verify it with your jurisdiction's authority, and confirm the site corresponds to that jurisdiction. Be wary of platforms that publish neither clear terms nor details of the responsible entity.

Does Rasca y Gana Casino give legal advice?

No. This site publishes general information for explanatory purposes. It is not legal or tax advice. For a question about your specific situation, contact the competent authority or a professional.
